As the Technical Director, you will:

Collaborate and coordinate on accounting positions and quality assurance requirements for Cherry Bekaert's Accounting Advisory practice. Additionally, you will track progress and risks on delivering timely services to our clients as our teams navigate accounting complexities. You'll be required to demonstrate good business judgment and the ability to think strategically, have a strong leadership presence that creates a high sense of accountability and integrity throughout the Firm, succinctly articulate complex accounting issues to finance and non-finance audiences alike, and give practical advice to make and defend difficult decisions. You will have nation-wide responsibilities to provide Accounting Advisory and clients with timely, high-quality, risk-based, and profitable accounting advisory assistance. Your contribution to business development will be primarily through generating recurring business by leveraging your technical excellence and ability to meet deadlines and objectives.

What you bring to the role:

The Director should have significant accounting advisory client service experience along with recent executive-level corporate finance experience and shall be deeply knowledgeable of accounting rules and related regulatory frameworks.


  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word
  • Prior experience with various assurance applications and research tools beneficial

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with professionals at all levels both within the client organization and the firm
  • Advanced knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting matters. IFRS and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements experience preferred.
  • Superior analytical and diagnostic skills
  • Capable of working in a demanding, deadline-driven environment with a focus on details and accuracy
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments successfully
  • Solid organizational skills, especially the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, with little supervision, on key objectives
  • Team player able to move to effectively delegate work assignments as needed
  • Comfortable and thriving in a hybrid work environment
  • Ability to travel up to 25% post-Covid

Required Education And/or Experience:

  • Ten (10) or more years of professional experience in public accounting or related field, required
  • Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience, required
  • Ten (10) or more years of GAAP, required. GAAS and Sarbanes-Oxley, preferred
  • Three (3) or more years of experience supporting risk management, intellectual capital development, practice and business development, preferred. Prior Professional Practice Group experience is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • Active CPA required
